Black Cherry Fair 8th July 2006
The lorry for the float was kindly donated and driven by Vic Taylor, the grandfather of 3 pupils, Dave Edney built
and donated the posts for the sides of the float and Sharon Edney helped myself and my Husband Damion to put the float
together on the Friday. Thank you to everyone who spent time drawing and decorating fish and sea creatures for the
side of the float and also for those of you who took time to make costumes - everybody looked fantastic.
The day started with a frantic effort to finish decorating the float, but we made it and our efforts were rewarded
with taking first prize for the under 16's schools and clubs winning £100, which we donated to Cancer
Research. I was so impressed with how good the children were on the float, it was a long time for them to sit there
and they really did surpass my expectations, waving and smiling at the crowds.
We then moved from the float to the face-painting stall, which was situated by the arena. We did not stop facing painting
all day so a special thank you needs to go to my Sister-in-Law Kerry Duffy who I don't think had a break until about 4 o'clock
in the afternoon.
At 1.30pm we took to the Area, performed 3 dances which were put together in only four weeks. We had been asked to perform
in the area just 5 weeks before the event and the effort put in by everybody involved was fantastic. Millie Gadd, Hattie Gadd,
Maddie Williamson, Lilly Wilkins, Katie Cassin, Hannah Evans, Typhaine Beard and Romy Hewitt all put on a fantastic performance,
so well done to you all.
We will be performing at the Black Cherry Fair in July 2007, more details next year.
