Guidelines for Parent and Toddler Dance and Mini Music and Movement
The guidelines below might sound obvious, but they are just a little reminder of how to make the most out of the classes.
It can take some children a couple of weeks to get used to their surroundings and what they are supposed to be doing, so don't panic if they cling on to you and do not participate give them time
Don't worry if your child does not join in, the key will be if they sing and dance along to the songs etc at home. It is amazing how much children take in just by watching.
Try and do some of the songs or dances at home, so that they become more familiar with them
Interact with them during the classes, give them cuddles and affection to reassure them
Try and smile as much as you can during the classes (I know we don't always feel like it!) If they see you are happy, they will be too.
I am happy for the children to run around during the classes as this is a way of expressing themselves, HOWEVER none of the following will be tolerated and I would ask that parents do intervene:-
- Pushing, biting or hitting other participants
- Dropping or throwing props or instruments on purpose
- Climbing on chairs or pieces of furniture
- Hiding under tables, behind curtains, looking out of the windows or trying to get out of the door. These can distract other participants and they will follow suit.
I would also ask that no food be consumed during the classes
