September 2008

September 2008 looks set to be a very exciting time for us.  We have new classes and new teachers all of which should enhance the programme offered by Encore Theatre Arts.

As I am returning from maternity leave, we will be saying goodbye (for now) to teachers Kerry Steele and Robina Jones.  I would like to take this opportunity to thank them for all their hard work in the last year.

I would like to introduce the new team to you.

  • Miss Jade Wells – Singing, Musical Theatre and Tap
  • Miss Gemma Wright – Street Dance
  • Miss Joanne Sherwood – Belly Dance
  • Miss Phillippa Woods – Ballet, Adult tap and Dancercise
  • Miss Jenny Newman  – Tap and Modern

Classes

If your child is starting school in September and currently does the Junior Tap and Ballet Class on a Saturday, they will be moving up to Primary Tap and modern (starting at 9.45am on Saturdays) I have also amalgamated the Grade 1 and 2 modern and the 12.30pm tap class has now amalgamated with the 10.30am tap class. These two classes are now 40 mins long. As I appreciate it is difficult to know which class your child is in, I have attached a list to the back of the timetable which lists who is in each class, my apologies if I have missed anyone out, please do not hesitate to contact me if your childs name is missing.

Fees

Unfortunatly I have had to increase the fees as of September.  This is due to increase in hall hire costs, I have tried to keep the fees as competitive as possible.

Please can I ask for deposits for Mini Music to be sent to me as soon as possible. And would like to remind everyone that fees are due by the third week of term.  If these are not received I will be charging 5% administration fee.

Outstanding Monies from last term
There does appear to be some outstanding fees and costume payments from last term.  I have included an invoice with this newsletter if this applies to you.  Can I ask that these be paid over the summer as I will not be able to accept you back into the class next term if these are not paid.

Uniform and Respect

I have been very dissappointed by some of the senior girls not abiding by uniform rules.  These rules are not made so they can be broken, they are made so that everyone looks smart and to prevent accidents and injuries.  I have asked all teachers to be a lot stricter with the pupils from September and if they do not have the correct uniform they will be asked to sit out of the class.

Please ensure the following:-
Hair is tied back for ALL classes,
No Jewellery to be worn apart from stud earrings
Correct uniform to be worn for each class, as per the list on the website.
No chewing gum or sweets

I have also become concerned at the lack of respect for some of the teachers and although this is a small change, I would ask that all teachers be called Miss (and their first name) they will introduce themselves at the beginning of term.

Dancing Around the World - June 2008

Congratulations to everyone who was involved in our 2nd show, we raised a staggering £1,300 which considering the costs for the hall etc, this is a fantastic amount.  Thank you to everyone who made this possible and everyone who performed should be so proud of creating such a fantastic show.

DVD’s and photo’s are still available to order.

Cancer Research UK Relay for Life

I recently attended a meeting with Cancer Research UK introducing Relay for Life.  It is a yearly event that brings the Community of Chertsey together to celebrate life and honours those affected by Cancer.  All Fundraising is done during the year and the event is a celebration of the achievements.

Teams sign up to take turns to walk round a track or local park continuously for the event, which will take place during the night.  There is a candle of hope ceremony and a survivor’s lap of honour.  If you are interested in becoming involved in this event, please do contact me.   If this event takes off, we as a school will be involved.

Thank you all for your support over the last year, I hope you all have a lovely summer and my teachers and myself look forward to welcoming you back in September.

Amanda
