Summer 2010

We cannot believe the summer holidays are here again.  We have already had a meeting with regards to the year ahead and have made a few decisions which we hope will improve communication and the success of the school. 

Last Term

Philis Tuckwell fete – 22nd May 2010 – thank you to all the girls who performed at the fete, we have had some really lovely feedback with regards to the display and the behaviour of the girls.

Black cherry fair – 11th July 2010 – what a hot one!!  Thank you to everyone who helped create the amazing float, it really did steal the show and one best overall float, we really could not achieved it without you.  Thank you to the parents and children who participated and made it such a wonderful day, it was very hot for the dancing, but the children were fantastic as usual.

Exams results IDTA - We had some great results for the IDTA exams that took place on 13th June 2010.

Exams results ISTD - We were so please with these results for the ISTD exams that took place over 2 days on 12th and 13th July 2010. 

A = 80-100
B = 60-79
C = 40-59
N = 00-39

Well done to everyone who took exams, you should be proud of yourselves for a great achievement. 

Summer holidays

Summer School – 2nd-6th August was held at St Peters church hall Chertsey and Chertsey Halls on Friday for a performance at 5pm, it was a huge success – see separate report on this.

Autumn Term
We start back on Monday 6th September.
Just to confirm that Disneyland is cancelled due to the lack of interest.  We may however be joining in the Tapathon on 10th October 2010, we will let you know at the beginning of the term if this is happening.
We will be holding our Choreography competition in December which will finish off the term and we will also have our awards ceremony on the same day.  We will confirm the date when we return in September.

General Reminders

Timetable – we have made slight changes to the timetable, please double check all times.  A couple of the classes have been extended and some shortened.  New classes have been added in for the children who are starting school in September – they will now be in Pre-Primary tap and modern and primary ballet.  Pre-Primary tap and modern and now in Primary etc as everyone else has moved up a grade.  If you have extra classes during the week, please do still come along to your class on Saturday at no extra charge. Any questions please do not hesitate to contact us.  We have decided to cancel the 3-5 year old Streetdance as the numbers have fluctuated over the last year.  The 6-11yr old class will now be from reception age and we will split the class after the first week into 2 groups.  Belly dancing will now resume after half term.

New Uniform - The new uniform t shirts and hoodies will be available to buy from September, if your child is participating in an event where they are representing the school, they will be required to have these.

Hair – Can you please ensure that hair is tied back for ALL classes including street dance and if your child is doing a ballet class they should make sure they have their hair in a bun.  They also require ballet tights (or ballet socks if wearing a skirt) for this class.  We believe this will help with discipline in these classes.

Fees – Can we please ask that fees be paid in a timely manner, we have a lot outstanding at the end of term and if these are not paid by the end of August then we will not accept your child back into class.  As of the Autumn term if fees are not paid by the date given on the invoice we will charge a 5% administration fee.

Website – we are currently updating the website and will be adding newsletters and information on a more regular basis.  We don’t want to make all our information public so we have decided to pilot a scheme called home contact (which is similar to Parent Mail)  it will enable us to email and text you with updates and reminders which should improve communication.  It will also mean that we only need to send out letters to those without email addresses which should save us money and help save paper, you can also update you contact details on line.

Singing Lessons – if you would like private or group singing lessons with Jade Nunn, please do contact Jade or Amanda to discuss this further.

Choreography Competition
Look out for the NEW Xtreme Tap class starting in January 2011 – if you want to learn street tap then this could be the class for you.  Open to Advanced 1 tap students and above to start with, this may lead to other classes.
