August 2007

Welcome to the August Newsletter for Encore Theatre Arts. We had a great Spring and Summer term and the school is continuing to go from strength to strength. I would firstly like to thank all the parents, adults and children that helped out at the Black Cherry Fair on 14th July 2007, we unfortunatly didn’t win anything with the float this year, but all the children were really well behaved and I think they should be proud of themselves.

The face painting also went extremely well and we have been able to donate £50 to Cancer Research, so well done to all the face painters, I believe I now have some of you hooked on it!

And so to the performers, I am so proud of all of you, for some of you it was the first time you had performed and it really was a challenge to get your bearings in such a big arena. Well done, you were all fantastic. If you have any photographs from the Black cherry Fair, I would really appreciate a copy for the website.

News

I have some news of my own – firstly I am pregnant with my 3rd child, due at the end of January. This will not affect the classes in any way and the school is going to continue as normal.

EXAMINATION SUCCESS

Millie Gadd and Maddie Williamson have passed their ISTD Grade 3 tap – well done to you both

EXAMINATION SESSIONS

IDTA All children and adults aged 3 and upwards will have the opportunity to take examinations this term, this includes the Musical Theatre class. ISTD – Primary modern, Grade 2 modern and Grade 4 modern will be notified soon when they will be taking their examinations. Tap examinations will be happening early next year.

MOVING UP A CLASS

If you child attends the Parent and Toddler Dance class and is now 3 years old, it is compulsory for them to move up to the Junior Tap and Ballet class on Saturdays at 9am.

If you child attends the Junior Tap and Ballet class and will be 5 years old this term, they will be moving up to the Primary Modern and Tap classes. If you are unsure, please contact me to discuss this.

UNIFORM

All classes have uniforms a list of which and the prices are attached. I now ask that for Parent and Toddler dance all pupils buy the required white ballet shoes and white leotard for girls and black ballet shoes and Encore Theatre Arts t-shirt for boys. For Mini Music and Movement I also now have t-shirts available. All uniform is available through me at extremely discounted prices. If you have any uniform still in good condition, to sell, please put it in a bag with your name on and how much you want for it and I will sell it for you.

ENCORE THEATRE ARTS SHOW 2008

Due to the various examination sessions and other events during the next two terms, I have decided to wait until the summer term to put on our next production, further details will be given as I have them.

TERM DATES AND CLASS PRICES

The Autumn terms starts on Monday 10th September and finishes on Monday 10th December. Half term will be Monday 22nd October to Sunday 28th October. Please note there will be NO Mini Music on 26th November due to unavailability of the hall.

I have had to put the class prices up slightly, the new prices for the term are on the attached timetable. Please note that all fees are due at the beginning of term, unless otherwise discussed. If your family does 4 or more classes per week you will receive one class a week free and don’t forget if you introduce a friend who signs up for a term, you will receive 2 free classes. Finally there are some class, costume and uniform fees outstanding from last term, if you receive a bill with this letter, please can you settle this with me ASAP. All cheques should be made payable to Encore Theatre Arts.

If you have an email address, I would really appreciate if you could let me know, I would then be able to contact you via email instead of sending out newsletters in the post. Please give me your email addresses next term.

NEW ENCORE THEATRE SUPPLIES WEBSITE

I am currently working on an Encore Theatre Supplies website that will be open to everyone to use to purchase uniform, dance clothes, accessories and fancy dress costumes. You can still purchase the schools uniform through me, but soon you can also log on to the website and order it through there, giving you the advantage of being able to pay by card and not have the delivery charge normally associated with these websites. As members of Encore Theatre Arts you will also receive 10% off any orders made through the website.
